Strand 4: SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION (SAP)

Students will develop skills to educate themselves about the consequences of substance use and practice ways to resist negative peer pressure.

Standard 6.SAP.3:

Recognize potential physical, mental, emotional, and social short and long-term consequences of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, and other substance use.
  • Alcohol: Knowing the Facts!
    Students will identify the effects of alcohol on body organs and on performance, as well as identifying reasons for not using alcohol.
  • Consequences of Tobacco & Nicotine Use
    Students will predict possible consequences of substance use and analyze how social messages regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco/nicotine and other drugs may misrepresent the negative effects of each.
  • Dangers of Tobacco
    Students will learn the vocabulary words associated with tobacco and the negative effects tobacco has on the human body.
  • Dangers of Alcohol Use
    Students will learn vocabulary words associated with alcohol and the effects it has on the human body.
