Strand 1: HEALTH FOUNDATIONS AND PROTECTIVE FACTORS OF HEALTHY SELF (HF)

Students will understand the responsibility and outcomes of personal decisions. Students will also apply their knowledge to develop social and emotional competence to make healthy and safe choices.

Standard HI.HF.2:

Research factors that contribute to decisions and apply effective decision-making strategies.
  • Decision Making Influences in Literature
    The decisions teenagers make are influenced by many factors. This lesson will help students differentiate between a variety of influences and recognize the impact these influences have on decision making.

    This lesson is written as an interdisciplinary unit for both the Health and Language Arts classrooms. It can however, be taught in just one of the classes.

  • It's a Gamble
    In this lesson students will recognize the difference between reasonable and unreasonable risk, plan to avoid risk, and identify factors that influence decision making.
  • Quick Decision Making
    Students will create, using Showme iPAD application, a 5 slide narrated presentation about the quick decision making tool HELP. Is it healthy? Is it ethical? Is it legal? Would my parents approval?
