Students will understand the responsibility and outcomes of personal decisions. Students will also apply their knowledge to develop social and emotional competence to make healthy and safe choices.

Standard HI.HF.4:

Demonstrate assertiveness and other effective ways to communicate personal boundaries and show respect for the boundaries of others.
  • Communication
    The basic concepts of communication. How to improve communication. Body language and the messages we are sending.
  • Givin' It, Takin' It, and Workin' It Out
    In this lesson students will practice assertive communication, problem solving, and conflict management skills.
  • Introduction to Refusal Skills
    Students will copy and demonstrate 3styles of responding to a question, the five Refusal Skills, and 5 reasons to use them.
  • Refusal Skills
    This lesson will help students develop strategies to manage peer pressure.
