Strand 5: NUTRITION (N)
Students will develop lifelong strategies for healthy eating, body image, and understanding the food environment around them.
Standard HI.N.4:
Identify internal and external influences on body image.

Becoming More Comfortable in Your Inherited Skin
Students will examine their concepts of "beautiful" and "ugly" and the social influences on this perception. Students will look more closely at the role genetics plays on determining the way a person looks. Finally, students will explore ways to enhance their own body images.
This lesson is written as an interdisciplinary unit for both the Health and Science classrooms. It can however, be taught in just one of the classes.

Keynote Lesson Plan for Body Image
The students are to create a Lucidchart and include 2 lucid charts on the importance of a healthy body image and develop appropriate weight management behaviors.

Self-Image and the Media
Students will be able to analyze media images and how they have an impact on self-image and self-esteem.
