Lesson Plans
Strand 6: HUMAN DEVELOPMENT (HD)
Students will understand reproductive anatomy and physiology, pregnancy, disease prevention, healthy relationships, and refusal skills. Utah Code requires parental notification for instruction on child sexual abuse prevention and parental consent for instruction on sex education. Instruction shall stress the benefit of abstinence before marriage and fidelity after marriage.
Standard HI.HD.8:
Recognize characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Friends
This lesson is about the importance of friends as part of a support system that helps students make healthy choices.

Givin' It, Takin' It, and Workin' It Out
In this lesson students will practice assertive communication, problem solving, and conflict
management skills.

Introduction to Refusal Skills
Students will copy and demonstrate 3styles of responding to a question, the five Refusal Skills, and 5 reasons to use them.

Refusal Skills
This lesson will help students develop strategies to manage peer pressure.

Video Lesson on Healthy Relationship
The students will make an iMovie or Educreations on developing and maintaining healthy relationships.
