NHMU: Time Machine - A Journey Into The Past

Summary

In order to discover what Utah was like in the past students will travel back through time to a period in Utah's geological history. Students will be able to identify geologic time periods and the animals and plants that lived during that time. Students will investigate how and why the environment in Utah changed over time and how animals, plants and geologic features were affected.


Materials


Instructional Procedures

  • Divide students into 4 teams or have them work individually. Assign each team a geological time period in Utah's past. Utilize your school or community library or the Internet to begin your journey!
    • Ordovician Utah
    • Late Jurassic Utah
    • Eocene Utah
    • Pleistocene Utah
  • Have the teams fill paste or draw pictures and answer the Time Machine Journey Questions (see attachment).
