Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to create their own word lists using only letters from certain finger families.

Instructional Procedures

Warm-up (5min) choose a practice lesson from a previous session and have the students type it three times. OR have students type words that appear on projector screen from the warm-up power points.

Introduction (10 min) Explain to students that today they will be reviewing finger families. The first activity the students will complete a blank keyboard worksheet. (10 min)

After completing the worksheet assign students 3-4 finger families to focus on and have them color those keys in on their keyboard handout. Next the students will be given 15 minutes to come up with as many words as they can find using only the assigned finger family keys. After the time elapses, students with then type up their word lists and print them out.

Strategies for Diverse Learners

For special needs students have them work with a partner or even better YOU become their "co-pilot" and let them learn away!

Extensions

Allow the students to share their word lists with opposite finger family students and have them type the word lists as practice.
