Dialysis Tubing Lab

Summary

Students will predict the particle movement and see if they are correct. This can be adjusted to be an inquiry lab.

Materials

• dialysis tubing 1 inch
• sugar water
• tap water
• string or dental floss
• triple beam balances
• paper towel
• lab worksheet

particle movement, diffusion, and osmosis

Instructional Procedures

1. Promote safe use of the equipment and materials.
2. Make the sugar solution a concentrated one.

Assessment Plan

Scoring Guide:
Appropriate use of the equipment and time receives 25 points. Five points for each of the questions giving 50 points total.
