Interior Design 1
Strand 3 Standard 1
2 class periods of 45 minutes each
Individual
This assignment fulfills the requirements of performance objective #4 for the state skills test #330.
Teachers should know what each of the elements of design are.
Students should know what each of the elements of design are. Students should also have the notes from the previous lessons to refer to in case they have a question as to what the elements of design are.
Students should achieve two separate goals by completing this assignment.
Hand out an Element's Picture assignment sheet to each member of the class. Read over the entire assignment sheet as a class. All necessary directions are written on the assignment sheet as well as the grading rubric. Show students your example assignment/pictures in order for them to get a clear idea of what is expected of them. Turn the rest of the class period over to them to complete their assignment. At the end of this class period, let them know that they will have an additional 30 minutes in (more or less according to what you feel they need) the following class period to finish their picture assignment. Remind them that if they have questions concerning a certain element of design, they should refer to their notes for help first and ask you second.
Struggling students could maybe just write a couple key words on the back of each picture describing where they see the element of design (instead of a complete sentence).
Refer to the assignment sheet grading scale for point values.
