1 class periods of 60 minutes each
Large Groups
Standards for obtaining a license to run a day care. Ratios for age groups are covered. Questions on improving public policy are asked at the end.
Projector for power point presentation. Work paper for each student. Overhead or handout of quiz.
It would be helpful to read the licensing check list from the attached web site of Dept. of Health.
This lesson tells a lot of rules that most students generally don't have any knowledge about unless they work in a Day Care. Most information is new but a lot of it is on the state test.
Students will be much more aware of regulations for licensing. Students will be more critical of conditions in day cares and what they could possibly do to improve things as a caring, responsible citizen.
Follow lesson plan with power point.
