Summary

Students will review the parts of fabric, good fabric selection for a quilt, and participate in a lab to determine a good fabric for quilts.


Materials

Resources, supplies, and equipment art listed on the lesson plan which is attached to Instructional Procedures.


Background for Teachers

Teacher needs to know the parts of the fabric and good quality fabric for quilting. He/she also needs to know how to conduct a burn test to determine a fabric blend or 100% cotton.


Student Prior Knowledge

Students should have a good understanding of the parts of the fabric. However, students without this knowledge, can learn in this concept in the lesson plan.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to identify the parts of the fabric, understand how important the parts of the fabric are, and they will be able to select good quality fabric for a quilt.
