Background for Teachers

Attachments

Websites

  • Creative Curriculum
Website at which teachers can produce portfolio based on checklists and comments for each child and then make available to parents with a password. 50 objectives grouped in categories. Each objective is explained through many examples so both teacher and parent will know meaning.
  • Work Sampling Online
Teachers can enter the data on each child in their class by entering a rating on many objectives grouped into categories. Teachers can scan samples of artwork, photos of children and post these on a website that is available to parents with a password.

Reading of any of the resource materials would be helpful. The websites help teachers develop electronic portfolios available to parents on the web. What a new high tech idea!!!!

Student Prior Knowledge

It would be helpful for students to have worked in child care. Most of this information is new and probably not covered in child development.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will complete work paper that accompanies power point presentation. They will be exposed to different ways in which to observe children.

Instructional Procedures

Attachments

Power point presentation along with handouts of work paper, sample report card, and sample portfolio.

Assessment Plan

Quiz of sample questions for state test, to be given at end of lesson.
