Summary

Students and teacher will go on a field trip to a local quilt shop. The teacher will determine the destination, make arrangements for the field trip, and collect all necessary paper work for students to leave school. Local quilt shops can be found in the yellow pages.

Background for Teachers

The teacher needs to be aware of quilt shops located near the school. The teacher needs to know how to arrange for a field trip with the proper paper work.


Student Prior Knowledge

Students need to know how to fill out and turn in the proper paper work in ordered to leave the school property for a field trip.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will become familiar with what a quilt shop has to offer to a beginning quilter. They will learn about fabrics, books, patterns, tools and equipment.

Assessment Plan

After returning to school, students will discuss the process questions which are on the lesson plan. Students will also be given a quiz on tools, equipment and quilting terms.
