Summary

(1 IT Day) Students are introduced to computer networks, network terminology, design, function, and uses.


Materials

Attachments

*Overhead projector
*Chalkboard/chalk or white board/marker
*Overheads titled: peer-to peer, devices and peripherals, LAN, and WAN
*Vocabulary worksheet - one for each student
*One floppy disk


Background for Teachers

PREPARE AHEAD OF TIME:
On the board write and cover until time for activity:
1. pat head
2. rub tummy
3. hop on one foot
4. jumping jack
5. turn in a circle

*Students should complete the vocabulary worksheet as the lesson is presented.


Intended Learning Outcomes

*Students will understand how a computer network is designed, functions, and is used.
*Students will also identify and define network-related terminology.


Instructional Procedures

Group discusion, demonstrations, and activities. Encourage students to complete the vocabulary worksheet as the lesson is presented. Detailed lesson outline, time needed, and vocabulary worksheet is attached in the Materials section above.
