myON Supports Readers at Every Level!

myON helps all students learn to read and love to read so they can grow into lifelong readers and learners. With myON, you can measure reading with reading!

Here are some examples of how myON supports readers at each grade range along with a few grade-appropriate texts from our collection.

Kindergarten - Grade 3

  • Emergent level texts provide students with connected text to match phonics concepts explicitly being taught in isolation.
  • Annotation tools can enrich the concepts taught within systematic phonics programs.
  • The embedded dictionary allows students to hear the correct pronunciation of words and see where the word should be broken apart for decoding.
  • Unlimited access along with our read aloud option provides students opportunities to hear books over time. This allows students to deepen their ability to use multiple cueing systems to decode unknown words.
  • Access to authentic text allows for recognition of academic language. This gives students opportunities to practice and anticipate what looks right and what sounds right when they are reading.

Grades 3-6

  • The wide variety of high interest texts support a student’s analysis of text structure, author’s point of view, purpose, and how information and concepts relate to one another and to a bigger idea as a whole.
  • Literacy tools that include annotation resources, journals and graphic organizers allow for modeling of close reading strategies and support and scaffold students with prompting to interact closely with texts as they are reading.
  • Educators can create customized text sets for a variety of purposes as they relate to comprehension development and cross-curricular instruction targeted at a student’s level for differentiated instruction in a classroom.
  • Leveled text allows for instruction of all students on a particular subject that meets the needs of varying reading abilities within a classroom.

Grades 6-12

  • Large non-fiction library allows for focus on a wide variety of subject areas, providing for maximum flexibility with cross-curricular, individualized instruction with nonfiction, informational text in science, social studies and various technical areas.
  • Educator tools support the development of standards-aligned book sets that can be assigned to individual students, groups or whole classes to support the curriculum, making standards based instruction efficient and targeted.
  • Literacy tools allow students to respond to text and support focus on supportive details, vocabulary, and close reading response with fact and opinion.
  • The Journal and Graphic Organizers allow for note-taking and providing evidence of relevant information and critical thinking.
  • Essay Writer allows students the ability to write for literacy in all subject areas.
  • Teachers can view and respond to student annotations in real time.
  • Classics Library for middle and high school enhances Language Arts instruction and allows for unlimited copies of a single text so all students have access.
