In which the Number Crew discover that two is not always twice as nice as one. Bradley reads a night-time story about Noah's Ark then falls asleep to dream that something very strange has happened on the ship. Everybody has a double, but the doubles aren't nice, in fact they are horrid, the total opposite to the normal passengers and crew. Math: Understand and use the principle that doubling reverses halving (doubling is the inverse of halving).

The animals are upset at leaving the island so the Number Crew decide to make a model island to cheer them up. Their models are all odd sizes though. They think of using their metre sticks but that would make everything too large: however, they notice the smaller markings on the ruler and decide to use those. Math: Read a simple scale to the nearest labeled division, including using a ruler to draw and measure lines to the nearest centimeter.

The passengers are allowed a number of sweets corresponding to their size. The Number Crew decides to give out some sweets. The number of sweets each animal gets depends on its size. Flo and Fiz hand out tickets with numbers on to each animal, and Bradley gives out the right number of sweets. Sadly the Tiger's 'six' gets ripped so it looks like a zero and Bradley can't give him any sweets. The Monkey comforts him and they discover that when they put their digits together they have a two digit number - 20 - and can claim lots more sweets. Math: Know what a 2-digit number represents

The Number Crew has to work out which passengers in which cabins are causing problems. The Polar Bear calls the galley and asks for a drink, as he can't sleep. When Bradley takes him some orange juice he finds some of the numbers have fallen off the cabin doors. He works out how to tell which cabin is which by counting in ones and delivers the drink. Back in the galley the Crocodile calls to complain about the Polar Bear who has started dancing in the cabin above him. Math: Say a number is 1 or 10 more than a given number.

Bradley reminds them they have to count how many they have all together but looking at the boxes he can see six and seven make thirteen straight away because five and five make ten then all you have to do is add the ones on top. The Number Crew has to sort things out by using bigger boxes. Ted and Mirabelle wonder what the kids are doing. The older ones are clearing up and Baby Bunting is playing with the Crocodile. Just when the kids have got everything sorted the Crocodile chases Baby Bunting into the boxes and chews them all up. Looks like the Number Crew will have to do all that sorting again, but there are no more fives boxes so they start using tens boxes. Math: Begin to add a pair of single digit numbers, crossing ten.

The Number Crew have to work out the prices of ice creams. Fiz is selling Big Digit ice creams for ten pence and the adding up is easy. Unfortunately Bradley arrives to tell her that the Big Digits are in fact nine pence, and that makes the sums much harder. They work out how to correct the mistake by counting back one. Some of the passengers are in luck and the others have nothing at all. Bradley writes out a neat list of treats for the passengers in two columns. The two smallest passengers come at the top and get one treat each and the two largest passengers come at the bottom of the columns and get ten treats each. Bradley and Flo start handing them out. The passengers form teams to play roller hockey. Fiz and Bradley are playing roller hockey with Flo as referee. The passengers would like to join in so Ted makes eight hockey sticks. The first game is rather unfair as the Tiger and Monkey are on one team and everyone else is on the other. The passengers pick teams properly and start playing again but Bradley says they must do some practice in pairs. Math: Understand the operation of division and the associated vocabulary.

The Number Crew build a roller coaster and have to measure the passengers to make the cars the right size. Nobody wants Bradley's evenly shaped bananas apart from the Monkey, but when Bradley says as a joke he thinks they'd all like a roller coaster they think it's a great idea. Flo makes a car, which is very beautiful, but much too small. Bradley's car is far too large. They realize they have to measure the passengers properly.. Bradley gets the idea of measuring them in bananas. Math: Understand and use the vocabulary relating to measuring and solving length problems.

The Number Crew set up a Treasure Hunt. The Number Crew's passengers have divided into two teams to play Number Puzzle. First they play adding up to four with giant dice, then they play 'Difference of two'. Next they all join in the treasure hunt and after solving various clues they find Baby Bunting in one of the cabins with a chest full of good things to eat. Math: Solve numerical problems by recognizing simple patterns or relationships, generalizing and making predictions.

The Number Crew have a sports day, but face a lot of sorting out of passengers. It's Sports Day on board the SS Mathematical. Flo and Bradley decide that a sack race would be a good idea and Fiz decides that an egg and spoon race would be great. Unfortunately, when she tries, the egg ends up all over Bradley. Bradley has a tough time trying to find the right sacks for the right passengers and works out that four-legged passengers need large sacks and two-legged passengers need smaller ones. Math: Collect and record numerical data.

In which In which the Number Crew rescue Passengers from the strange world of 3-d shapes. The SS Mathematical passes a little too close to the Bermuda Triangle, and the Crew discover a strange shimmering triangle on deck, which proves to be a portal to the strange world of shapes where they become 3D shapes in a magic landscape. Bradley wants to use tiles and Fiz wants to use paint to redecorate the ballroom. When they leave the room to get some advice from Mirabelle, the passengers, lead by Baby Bunting, start trying some decorating for themselves. When all the paw prints they've made have been cleaned up the Number Crew find a way to decorate using paw prints, tiles and paint using a hundred tiles. Strange happenings on the good ship Mathematical as large objects start moving by themselves. At the emergency meeting Baby Bunting reveals that the culprits are the multicolored Number Bugs. Counting them proves very tricky, as they keep moving about, till the crew groups them in tens in the cabins. Math: Count reliably at least a hundred objects by grouping them.
The Place for Treats

Fiz tells Bradley there are more treats to hand out - this worries him remembering what happened last time (Series 1 Program 6), but he resolves not to be fooled again. The passengers are given a pair of digits to give a two-digit number of treats for them to share. Math: Know what each digit in a two-digit number represents, including zero as a place holder.

Fiz and Bradley are delivering drinks and Flo has put numbers on the drinks to make sure the right passengers get the right ones. They deliver the drinks to eighteen, ten, sixteen, and then fourteen. When they think about it they realize that they could have delivered them much more quickly if they had put the drinks in order before they started. In which the Number Bugs are shared. Flo finds that some of the passengers are upset because they don't have any Number Bugs. The Zebra has two, the Snake has four and the Buffalo has six, but the Kangaroo, Tiger and Monkey have none. Flo searches for the Number Bugs and lets Fiz and Bradley know where they are. Bradley guesses that Flo has found eight in cabin eight. Math: Recognize odd and even numbers to at least 30.

In which Bradley puts his singing where his mouth is. After Mr. Crocodile's awful singing gets the Number Bugs to ten Bradley reckons he could get them to twenty on their number line. Fiz reckons he'd be lucky to get them to ten though, so they make a bet. After a remarkable performance none of the bugs get to twenty, but they all get past ten. So who wins the bet? Math: Round numbers less than a hundred to the nearest ten.

In which the Number Crew divide mince pies and other comestibles into edible fractions. Ted is cooking mince pies and Fiz and Flo want to share one but Ted cuts a pie into uneven bits. To be fair they know they need it cut in half. Ted eats the unequal bits. Then Bradley and Baby Bunting want a pie to share so Ted slices another into two equal parts. All four want to try a bit of Yule Log so Ted cuts it not into halves but four quarters. Math: Begin to recognize, name and find one half and one quarter of shapes and small numbers of objects.

In which the SS Mathematical steams astern into the iceberg The Polar Bear and Penguin are still steering the ship. Ted is worried, but Mirabelle is sure they are concentrating. Bradley panics a bit at first but Ted says there's no damage and the Number Crew do a count to check that all the passengers and humans are on board. The passengers are inside watching a Western on the video. When the sheriff, with a star, says he's going to clean up town, Flo turns off the TV in case the passengers are upset by any fighting. Fiz, Flo and Bradley despair but the Mathematical Seven - the passengers from the first seven cabins - are striding out, complete with their shiny room numbers for stars, to clean up the Ballroom. In which the passengers practice winter sports. As usual what the passengers really need to get them going is a competition. The Elephant and Giraffe score one, six and nine, but Bradley can't find a quick and easy way to add up the scores. Math: Add three numbers by looking for pairs that make ten and doing these first.
