PowerPoint and notes: (30 minutes)

Lead discussion into a conversation about relationships with parents and things they can do to add harmony to their family. Discuss effective communication with parents.

Conclude PowerPoint and have students take notes in their packets (20 minutes). They will continue the notes where we left off earlier and they will need to number a list of 10 things they can do to strengthen their relationships with their parents.

Conclusion: (5 minutes)
Review concept of the day and get students excited for next class when we have our senior simulation day.

Strategies for Diverse Learners

Adapt lessons so special need and gifted students are participating according to their ability level. For example, a special needs student might draw the family portrait in class and finish at home with the help of parents and siblings.

Extensions

A gifted student might complete a 2-3 generational diagram of birth order and/or family portrait within their family for an extra credit assignment.

Assessment Plan

Students will be graded on the completion and content of student packet as well as class participation.
