Summary: Students gain opportunities to dodge, evade and move in general space without touching others.
Materials: Flag belts
Student Prior Knowledge: Moving safely in confined areas and how to dodge and evade. Intended Learning Outcomes: Students will demonstrate the ability to move amongst others safely. Students will gain practice in dodging and evading. Instructional Procedures:
- Define the boundaries for the students.
- Explain that each student must move within this space while trying to pull the other students' flags off their belt.
- If a student's flag is pulled off, they must garner their flags and move outside of the boundaries to perform an exercise, e.g. 10 push-ups or 5 jumping jacks.
- After the exercise is completed, students must reattach their flags to their belt and re-enter the activity.
Strategies For Diverse Learners:
- You may have the students walk, jog, hop, etc. and complete this activity.
- The students can try to pull the flags with their left hand only or right hand only etc.
