Intended Learning Outcomes: Students will understand how play will help a child grow and develop. They will also be able to identify the different types of play. Instructional Procedures: Students will fill in the correct words: An adult's work is __(work) __. A student's work is __ (school) __.

Read the 4 case studies and have the student identify which type of play they represent. (pictures may also be used)
Divide the class into teams (2 or 3) and have them play the JEOPARDY game on play as a review. Out of Class ASSIGNMENT: Observation Students will need to visit a Day Care, Kindergarten or Preschool program to observe children playing in a group situation. If an onsite program is available, they can make arrangements to use that program. OPTIONAL: * PICTIONARY may be used instead of JEOPARDY Game Divide the class into groups. A student will draw a card that will have a word related to social patterns types of growth or play. The teacher will indicate with area the word is from and then the team will try to guess which term is being drawn. The team will have 30 seconds to guess.
