Time Frame:
2 class periods that run 45 minutes each.


 

Summary:
This lesson is a brief introduction on the Internet. Students learn basic Internet terms, and how to search for information on the Internet.

Main Curriculum Tie:
Career and Technical Education Introduction
Standard 4 Objective 4-2

Students will use technology independently and collaboratively in business applications.

Materials:
For this lesson you will need to have a computer with Internet access. The PowerPoint presentation, and the Internet Assignments.

Background For Teachers:
This Internet Unit can be done as a whole class, in small groups, or with individuals. Students should answer the Internet Questionnaire, then go through the PowerPoint Presentation and fill in the Internet Terms. Then the Students can do the Internet Assignments.

Student Prior Knowledge:
No prior Internet knowledge is required.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
Students will become familiar with Internet terms, and the Internet. Be able to perform different functions and search on the Internet.

Instructional Procedures:
This can be taught as a whole class, or in rotations. Day one should go over the Internet questionnaire and the Internet terms and start assignment one. Day two should finish assignment one and assignment two.

Strategies For Diverse Learners:
This is a great activity to pair students together to work together. If a student is more advanced, pair them with a struggling student.

Extensions:
The Internet Safety Quiz is great for students who finish early. They should read the essay, and then take the quiz.

Teachers should check the URL that the students listed to see if the information that the students gave is accurate.
