Unit II - Fat A Concentrated Energy Source

Pre-Assessment

As a pre-assessment write the word FAT on the chalk board and have the students write down or orally give their reactions to the word.

Show the class a one-pound block of butter dressed as a villain or show a block of fat cut from meat.

Have the students brainstorm responses to the question, "Why is fat so often seen as a villainous nutrient rather than an essential nutrient?"
