Unit IV - Personal Taste

Pre-Assessment

As an introduction to this unit have the students experience "Taste Is In The Eye of The Beholder."

Make 6 batches of lemon Jello.  Color one batch green, one orange, one red, one purple. one blue, and leave one yellow.  Cut each batch into squares.

Have the students taste each color and state on the worksheet TASTE IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER the flavor they are tasting.  Tabulate the class results.  Then disclose that all colors were lemon flavored jello.  Talk about how sight influences taste.

Variation:  The same thing can be done with instant vanilla pudding.  Color it and serve it in small plastic cups.  Crushed vanilla wafers may be sprinkled on top.
