Pre-Assessment
 
As a preassessment have the students write an invitation for a specific type of party.  The teacher should not give any input as to how the invitation is constructed except to specify that it needs to include the menu and that the party should be a formal one.

Discuss the various invitations that the students submitted, then list on the board the specific information that should be included on an invitation.  (See background information for guidelines).

Review the basic rules of menu writing. (See background information for guidelines).
