During this lesson students will create a comic strip in the foreign language(in groups of 3) using the Strip Designer app on iPads.
1. One iPad per group
2. Strip Designer app
3. A teacher Dropbox account with folders of images in the following categories: clothing, food, family, the home, weather, transportation, classroom supplies. The teacher will collect these images from WorldBook Encyclopedia and other Pioneer sites.
1. Teacher will divide the students into groups of three. Each group will have an iPad and (optionally) iPod touches.
2. The teacher will explain that the students will be creating a comic strip in the target language. He/she will then show some sample comics.
3. The teacher will provide students with a link to his/her Dropbox account where there will be public folders full of images that the students can access for this project. (The images will be sorted into themes that the students have studied in Spanish during the year: family, clothing, food, transportation, animals, etc.)
4. The students will choose images to use in their comics, bring them in to Strip Designer, and write their comics in the target language.
Students will turn in their finished comics, which will then be displayed for the whole class. The teacher will then assess the projects using the attached rubric.
