Discussion of the recurring themes of this book: marital and family strengths; different families, different strengths (Ethnic groups); kin and community influences.


Materials

A PowerPoint projector for presentation presentation. Copies of all the lesson plans and handouts from the FHS 2400 CD.


Background for Teachers

Reading of chapter and familiarity with various ethnic groups. It is important to have only ethnic students in the class volunteer comments. They may feel discriminated against if you call on them and ask questions about their ethnicity.


Student Prior Knowledge

Reading of the chapter and familiarity with various ethnic groups.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Identify and compare the strengths of various ethnic families. List the qualities needed to build a strong marriage and family.

Assessment Plan

Students will have completed the reading test before coming to class. A final Exam will be given on the chapter.
