Students will increase their knowledge of Internet safety. Students will explore and identify dangers on the Internet and learn ways to avoid situations that might be threatening or harmful.
Students will be able to identify online threats, appropriate communication skills, and how to protect themselves from inappropriate Internet behavior.
Introduction: (5 min.)

Today we are going to talk about identifying and avoiding situation that could threaten your safety on the internet.
Going out on the net is like going to a costume party where everyone's identity is a mystery. Unless you know your friends, assume you don't know to whom you are talking. Strangers on the internet can take advantage of you by pretending to be your friend. You have no way of knowing who that person is and what they may be after.

Assignment: Create a "Mobile Foldable" using information from "Safe Surfing Tips" and your five goals for internet safety.
Students will be graded on their Internet Safety Worksheet. Students will set five specific goals for staying safe on the internet. Homework-Students will create a "mobile foldable" using their goals and information on internet safety
