Summary

Students will research dietary guidelines, influence of the media and healthy/junk foods.


Materials

Websites

Students will need a computer, their science/health journals, and whatever presentation tools they would like to use for their oral speech.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Use Science Process and Thinking Skills. Students should research and make a decision whether or not junk food ads should/should not be banned to targeted youth. We will then discuss how science and emotion sometimes differ and what the difference between these two things are. Language Arts W:Productions and distribution of writing #4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. This is to tie in our persuasive writing to health/science.


Instructional Procedures

  1. Student will research using Webquest.
  2. Student will develop persuasive writing based on scientific evidence.
  3. Student will persuade audience (classmates) of position using technology.


Assessment Plan

Students are graded upon their research and the rubric in the webquest.
