Interior Design 1
Strand 3 Standard 1
1 class periods of 70 minutes each
Individual
Thinking & Reasoning
Students will create a design using white paper and black ink that incorporates all four of the different line types.
Please be aware of the difference between the four types of lines: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and curved.
Students should have had the "Line Posters" lesson previous to this one. If that lesson was not used, students should be aware of what the four different line types are: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and curved.
By completing this design, students should learn the difference and direction of the four line types.
Review the four types of lines with the students: horizontal, vertical, curved and diagonal. Make sure the students understand clearly the direction of each line.
Hand out an assignment sheet to each student. Read through the assignment sheet as a class. Answer all questions as they arise. Show an example assignment so that students have a clear idea of what is expected of them.
Remind students that the design doesn't need to look like anything. It is a design uniquely their own...it just has to meet the requirements on the assignment sheet. They can be CREATIVE! The assignment should only take one class period to complete. Have students hand in the completed design at the end of the class.
This activity is so broad that anyone should be able to complete it--whatever skill level they are on.
Refer to the rubric incorporated into the assignment sheet for grading expectations.
