Purpose of Dating (Dat)

Time Frame:
1 class period that runs 70 minutes.


 

Summary:
Help students understand the importance of good dating and its stages. This is part of the Dating Unit.

Background For Teachers:
The textbook used is, "Strengthening Family and Self" published by Goodheart-Willcox.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
PURPOSE AND TYPES: three of the purposes of dating are socialization, recreation, and mate selection. Dating can be misleading as it relates to mate selection because people are usually on their best behavior when dating. Comparing personalities and characteristics in different settings is an important function of dating. PERSONAL QUALITIES CONTRIBUTING TO POSITIVE DATING: positive dating characteristics include: concern for the date’s feelings, the ability to carry on a conversation, the ability to ask questions, etc.
