Summary

These activities require about 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Each activity can be added to an existing lesson plan to finish classroom time. The goal is to promote student recognition of the culinary terms given in Standard 9.


Materials

Attachments

  • A classroom set of the vocabulary words needs to be printed - card stock will extend the life of this set if available.
  • The classroom list may be used on all assignments.
  • For the Bingo game, hand outs need to be printed. Some small type of marker can be used, like beans or Smarties candies, or students can mark on their handout with a pen or pencil.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to define and utilize culinary vocabulary.


Instructional Procedures

These activities are meant to be used with time that is left over after completing a lesson plan. Most of these activities can be accomplished in 15-30 minutes. Each activity promotes culinary vocabulary.

Activities can be printed out and then used when time allows - there is a benefit for your students in starting with these vocabulary words early in the semester and continually reviewing as the semester progresses.
