Computer/smartboard, an assorted collection of items that can be recycled or reused (pop bottles, CDs, cereal boxes, plastic yogurt cuts, etc), Animoto educational account.


Background for Teachers

Teachers will need to have a basic knowledge of Animoto. Teachers will need to understand the importance of recycling and how it affects students.


Student Prior Knowledge

Students should have a basic understanding of the vocabulary words, re-use, recycle and reduce.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will understand the effects of their efforts in maintaining a healthy environment. Students will learn the basics of Animoto by helping to create a class video on ways to recycle, reuse, and reduce.


Instructional Procedures

1. Show Videos: Mottanai Animoto Video and Mottanai Music Video (other videos could be shown on different days) 2. Discuss the definition of reduce, reuse and recycle. 3. Brainstorm ways they might recycle, reuse and reduce the assorted items that you have brought in 4.Have students bring in examples from their homes and write a sentence how it could be reused or recycle. 5. Photograph the object before and as an recycled/reused item 6. Have the students write the text that goes with it on the computer. 6.Create a class video on Animoto of their suggestions.

Lesson plan can be adapted for diverse learners by partnering up with another person.
