Comparing Inheritance

Summary

Students will use pictures of organisms and their offspring to compare inheritance between offspring of sexual reproduction and asexual.

Materials

• Copies of picture handout 1
• Copies of picture handout 2 (Laminating them will make them last longer, or project the pictures through your computer.)
• Student sheet
• Computers will allow students to look for other animal pairs and can be used, if desired.

Instructional Procedures

1. "Hook" activity-ask students to list ways that they are like their parents.
2. Read the introduction with the students and do an example with them.
3. Allow times for the students to work on the animals and plants pictured.
4. Allow time for the students to complete the analysis and write a conclusion.
