  • alcohol burners or Bunsen burners
  • tongs
  • watch glass
  • spatula
  • test tube
  • stopper
  • goggles
  • student worksheet (attached)


Instructional Procedures

  1. Teacher demonstration:
    Take a small amount of alcohol and pour it into a watch glass or on a desk. Carefully light the alcohol. Students should record what happens.
  2. Students then follow the procedures set out in their worksheet.
