Summary
Students will create a comparison chart showing similarities and differences between chemical and physical properties.
Materials
Instructional Procedures
- Explain to students that they will first use their books to identify characteristics of chemical and physical properties. They will write these in the table provided.
- After filling in their tables, students should fill in the Venn Diagram below it. They should find at least 2 similarities. Differences will be easier.
- Write the following examples of properties on the board and have students place them in the Venn diagram also:
- has color
- bubbles in water
- rusts
- has shape
- has mass
- burns
- hard
- melts
- flexible

1. Student identifies 4 characteristics of chemical and physical properties….4 pts
