Instructional Procedures

Give a little background about the book. Have students think about the question: How did the elephants react to the two different weather changes? read book discuss question posed earlier and book. How does weather affect animals? Have students discuss how the elephants changed when going to a different climate. See if students can define climate. Split students into four groups, one group for each of the four seasons. Give the students their materials. Directions--Have students cut out pictures of animals for each season. These collages will help show how animals can live in different climates and different weather changes. For example, the bear. The bear can be put on the summer collage and the winter. Share collage. Discuss the similarities and differences of the collages. For example bears or birds. If two groups put birds or bears on their collage talk about what do the animals do to adapt to the weather change.
