Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to identify basic architectural terms and features

Instructional Procedures

  1. Distribute Architectural Features handout to each student. Provide pencils if needed.
  2. Present PowerPoint as students write definitions and sketch architectural features.
  3. Take class outside and give each student a few pieces of sidewalk chalk.
  4. Have students sketch and label architectural features of the school building or neighboring houses.

Strategies for Diverse Learners

Print out a few copies of the teacher key for students that have difficulty understanding language, taking notes quickly or sketching. They may take the key home to complete their handout, whether it is completing the notes or tracing the features.
