Standard 2
Explore the impact of group associations in the present and future in regards to families, careers and communities. *STEM (Biology/Science/Behavioral Sciences)

  • Group Associations
The students will learn three main ideas: Being a member of a group brings a sense of belonging and can raise self-esteem. Do not succumb to negative peer pressure. Find groups to be a part of that strengthen your values, not go against them.
  • Refusal Skills
Having the ability to refuse or stand out alone when peer pressure is strong is often very difficult, but a person can resist if he/she really wants to. If he/she really want to, it is easy to give in. Remember, everyone has the power to resist, but everyone doesn't sincerely want to.
  • Social Rejection
Being alone, feeling lonely and feeling rejection are all very different experiences. If you are feeling lonely or rejection there are positive ways to cope with your situation.
