Large Groups
This unit explores several aspects of ancient Egypt. It covers areas such as; hieroglyphics, mummification, architecture, religion, and history. There are several hands on lessons, web activities, and many other wonderful tools for your students to develop a better understanding of Ancient Egypt. 1) Basic computer skills. 2) Reading and comprehension of at least 5th grade level words. 3) Must be able to compose writings in which the subject and purpopse are cohesive and clear. 4) Geometry vocabulary 5) Understanding of measurement 6) Basic computation skills 7) Basic use of art mediums and applications.
Students will be competent and knowledgable about the history and culture of Ancient Egypt.

*** Social Studies: This particular game can be done in a group setting with the teacher, or in small groups as students. "Who Wants to Be a Pharaoh?"
*** Mathematics: The teacher will set out clumps of play dough and a set of directions in front of each space (group size depends on the teacher. The students will follow the directions provided them, and then move to another center or activity.
*** Language Arts: The teacher will need to research pictures and examples of epitaphs ahead of time (see bibliography for suggestions). Be sure to specifically mark all pictures and texts to be viewed (I recommend using sticky notes). Pre-typed instructions are included.
Working in groups keeps kids ahead still engaged, opportunity for discussion and student to student interaction.
