  • Student will learn how to use facial muscles around mouth to form embouchure (mouth shape for playing the instrument),
  • Students will learn where to place lips
  • Students will learn how to properly blow into the flute.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Produce an acceptable tone over a limited range of the instrument using:

  • Proper embouchure
  • Posture
  • Correct hand position
  • Proper breath support

Attachments

All beginning band students will perform short 3 note etudes. Assessment will include one or all of the following:

  • Rubric (teacher assessment)
  • Peer assessment
  • Self assessment
  • Self/peer assessment aided by video
