Letter W Activities

  • Download the Letter W Pack and select activities that will engage and challenge your child(ren).
  • Using the large letter W template have your child glue on any of the following items:
    Wheat
    Watermelon Seeds
    Wrappers
  • Cut out several colors of rectangle and circle shapes. Make a wagon out of the shapes you have been provided. Talk about your wagon with a friend and what you plan to carry around in the wagon you created.
  • Introduce the questioning words (who, what, where, why, and when). Encourage them to ask and answer questions throughout the day. This allows you to identify whether your child(ren) can provide a proper response to questions (label an object for what questions, provide a person or character for who questions, provide time for when questions, etc.).
  • Buy some walnuts in the shell and teach your child how to shell them with a nutcracker.
  • Make dirt cups with gummy worms.
  • Count the windows in your environment.
  • Learn and practice how to whistle.
  • Provide a child friendly definition of wish. Ask the students to make a wish. They can then choose to share their wishes with you as you write them down or they can draw or write about it.
  • Practice Hand Washing - Print a poster of the steps and have children practice them.
  • Talk about items in your classroom or house that are white. Ask student to go on an I Spy hunt to find and locate the items as you list them.
