Have you ever wished that you could just walk into a building and have your Wi-Fi work? No sign-ins, no dead zones, no user agreements—just active Wi-Fi that you don’t have to think about.
While it’s not a reality everywhere, we’re a lot closer than we used to be, thanks to eduroam. eduroam allows students, researchers, teachers and staff from Utah college and K-12 schools to securely connect to the internet across campuses, districts and schools by simply opening their computing device.
And it doesn’t just work on your home campus! It works on any campus you visit, as well as many public libraries, some Utah Department of Transportation sites and other public locations around the world. You don’t have to sign in when you visit any of them—once you’ve activated eduroam, it just works in all those locations.
Where can I use eduroam?
Utah is leading the way in eduroam use with nearly 800 eduroam sites! Nearly every major educational institution, from the largest university to the smallest elementary school, has access to eduroam.
It doesn’t end with Utah—eduroam sites exist throughout the United States and in many other countries. You can walk into any connected location and eduroam takes it from there.
Getting on eduroam is easy. To log in for the first time, find the eduroam network on your device (phone, laptop or tablet) and use your school district or higher education credentials to access the network. After that, you’ll be able to access eduroam anywhere the network is available.
NOTE FOR TEACHERS: Many schools have firewalls to prevent unauthorized use. Our information here explains how to access all your apps and websites when you visit other schools.
We want participating educational faculty, staff and students in Utah to have ubiquitous wireless access in all educational sites in the state and in other eduroam participating sites throughout the world.
