Summary

Students will create, using Showme iPAD application, a 5 slide narrated presentation about the quick decision making tool HELP. Is it healthy? Is it ethical? Is it legal? Would my parents approval?


Materials

  • ipads or ipods for every 2 students
  • Access to a computer lab is recommended

Teachers will need an understanding of ShowMe and ipod/ipad usage. See tutorial link.


Student Prior Knowledge

Students will have a prior knowledge of the decision making process to include: H.E.L.P Healthy Ethical Legal Parental Approval


Intended Learning Outcomes

Objective 1 Develop strategies for a healthy self-concept. Students will be able to use the H.E.L.P. strategy to make effective quick decisions.


Instructional Procedures

Step 1

Students will learn how to use ShowMe

a) teacher's instruction
b) watching tutorial

Step 2

Students will review the H.E.L.P. decision making strategy (pg. 28 Glencoe Health 3 2009 textbook)

Step 3

Students will plan their ShowMe presentation that will demonstrate their knowledge of the H.E.L.P strategy.

Step 4

Students will create their ShowMe presentation

Step 5

Students will show their presentation to the class.


Strategies for Diverse Learners

Students wishing to expand on the H.E.L.P concept can create an extra presentation that demonstrates its use in a particular situation.


Assessment Plan

The finished ShowMe presentation will be the assessment learning tool.
