Summary

In this lesson students will complete a reading survey to Students will become aware of their Reader Identity - reading preferences, habits, strengths, weaknesses, and attitudes.

Background for Teachers

This is the first lesson plan in a three lesson sequence on building individual reading interest and engaging students in reading.


Student Prior Knowledge

Personal reading experiences.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will become aware of their reading preferences, habits, strengths, weaknesses, and attitudes--their Reader Identity.


Instructional Procedures

Allow 20 to 30 minutes for students to fill out the Interests and Reading Survey. Allow time for students to share responses with one another.


Strategies for Diverse Learners

Help with any vocabulary words or terms that are unfamiliar.
