Summary

Students will learn an overview of the skeletal system. The students will make a functional "robotic" hand.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will understand how bones move by discussing it and also by recreating it.


Instructional Procedures

Engage: Show robot video

Discuss: Introduction question of what students think is going on inside their hands when they move their fingers.

Video: Of how things need structure.

Discuss: Have the students find their joints at different parts of their body. Explain about tendons and how the joints move.

Discuss: With the students ask how they would go about creating a robot hand.

Activity: Robot Hand


Strategies for Diverse Learners

Have materials already done. If special needs then accommodate accordingly.


Extensions

Go throughout different parts of the body identifying different bones and their scientific names.
