Discuss how it is important for athletes to have healthy bodies. When they train for the Olympics they must work and practice. They must also eat correctly. Show some pictures of famous Olympians. Read the story. Explain the various Olympic activities. Show them how they will record their information on their recording sheets. Divide the students in teams. Have the teams go to their various stations. Teams will rotate through the stations until all the teams have completed each station. Discuss the results of the various activities and the unit of measurement for each station.

Possible Extensions/Adaptations
More activities could be added, and some may need to be adapted for those with
disabilities. Nonstandard or standard forms of measurement can be used. (Do
not use metric measurement.) Can be used as a field day activity for a grade
level or a school. Classes could compete with each other.
Family Connections
Have the student go home and have an Olympic Event with their family.
Collect recording sheets. Look at proper recording of measurement.
