Network Degraded: 2017-12-04 @ 8:00 AM Description: UEN is currently experiencing ~1% Packet Loss on one of the backbone 100Gbps links. It is causing some minor slowness, but not having much overall impact at this time. We are troubleshooting the issue and will fail traffic to a more reliable link if we cannot resolve this issue soon.
Update: We have not been able to resolve the issue yet. UEN will be pulling traffic off the impacted link at 10a to minimize issues impacting customers.
Update: Traffic is now flowing across the network with no packet-loss or continued indications of issues. We will leave this link out of service until we can determine the root cause of the issues.

South Central Maintenance: 2017-12-06 @ 11:55 PM Description: South Central Communications will be replacing crushed conduit and replace fiber.

USU POP Maintenance: 2017-12-07 @ 11:00 PM Description: UEN will be adding additional port capacity at the USU POP.

Update: This maintenance completed at 2:10 AM. Impact: All 1 Gigabit Ethernet connections will go down while they are moved to new ports.
Centracom-NEBO Maintenance: 2017-12-13 @ 11:00 PM Description: Centracom will be testing/repairing the fiber at Spanish Fork Vault.

Level 3 Pop maintenance: 2017-12-19 @ 11:00 PM Description: We are adding capacity to the Level3 pop router and upgrading some existing links

Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: No internet2 services will be impacted. All 100GE circuits will remain up.
IRON (Idaho Regional Optical Network) and KUED master control circuit will be impacted. These are the only services that will completely go offline.
Several backbone links will also go offline but will not impact the network as traffic will reroute.
Xmission peering and Cogent Internet will also go offline but traffic will reroute across other existing links.
DDC POP Maintenance: 2017-12-19 @ 11:00 PM Description: UEN will be upgrading the operating system on ddc-pep-b-129.

Hosting infrastructure firmware upgrades: 2017-12-21 @ 10:00 PM Description: Firmware upgrades for equipment running all UEN hosting services (virtual environment).

Update: We ran into file system corruption on one of the fabric interconnects which delayed upgrades at EBC. DDC was completed last night. This maintenance window is being extended for another 24 hours to allow for the completion of EBC.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: Potential network and service outages to the UEN virtual machine environment: all UEN web hosting, audio streams, video recording, authentication, NOC utilities, collocation, databases, phones, and EBC building servers. The network infrastructure upgrades will begin at 10:00 pm and should complete by midnight -- these have a higher chance of causing an interruption. The server infrastructure upgrades will take place the following day and have a very low risk of causing an interruption.
Garfield DO 6880 switch install: 2017-12-27 @ 12:30 PM Description: We will be installing two Cisco 6880s to replace the inside and outside switch at Garfield DO.

Update: Cutover is complete. The power cords for the p/s connected to the generator are not working properly. New cords are being sent down from SLC. Each device is on power supplies connected to the ups.
Update: This maintenance completed at 2:39 PM. Impact: All Garfield School district sites will be down. No non-district devices will be affected.
UEN SAN Maintenace: 2017-12-27 @ 7:00 AM Description: Patching and updating the Storage Area Network Nodes to the latest versions.

Update: Progress update: All Storage Nodes have been patched. We will begin the update in the morning about 8:00 am. We are on target to finish tomorrow.
