What happens when Utah's school leaders come together? Fresh ideas, lasting connections, and practical solutions that help principals better serve their schools—and ultimately, students across the state

Our UEN Professional Development team recently finished this year’s Leading Schools Summit. Held at the SchoolAI offices in Lehi, the three-day event brought together principals from all over Utah.

Leading Schools is more than a typical workshop. It is built to help Utah’s school leaders focus on student-centered learning. This year, participants worked through real challenges, learned from each other, and took time to reflect on their roles. The summit showed again how important it is to give leaders the support they need to help their schools succeed.

For leaders from smaller schools, charter academies, or districts with fewer resources, this kind of collaboration offers something that traditional training often misses. It creates a community of peers who understand the unique challenges of the job.

The impact of this approach is best captured by Robbin Clark, Principal of Bridges School, who shared what the summit truly means to school leaders:

"As a principal who doesn't belong to a large district or have a lot of resources, this conference is absolutely invaluable. When you are operating with limited backing, leadership can feel incredibly isolating. That is why I appreciate the deep learning, the authentic connection, and the networking opportunities here tremendously... My favorite part of this experience is the sheer practicality of it. I love that I can bring a real, messy challenge that I'm currently facing in my school and leave with multiple layers of support to solve it. It isn't just theory; it is real-time problem-solving with peers who truly understand the job. I am so incredibly thankful that this conference has survived budget cuts over the years. By making space for honest collaboration and practical problem-solving, the UEN PD team supports administrators in ways that go beyond training. After three days together, attendees left with new strategies to use with their staff and a stronger sense of confidence and connection.

When we support our school principals, the benefits reach teachers, students, and communities across Utah. The Leading Schools Summit continues to be an important part of that work, showing that when leaders work together, they can face any challenge.
