Students will evaluate parenting roles and responsibilities.

Standard 1

Recognize the characteristics and responsibilities of parenting.
  • Introduction to Child Development
    The study of children should be an important part of every person's life. We cannot communicate with children if we do not understand them. Our lives have been greatly influenced by our childhood and our experiences.
  • Responsibilities of Parenting
    There are many responsibilities related to caring for children. Many times we see only the fun and positive outings, parties and happy moments that adults spend with children. There are also teaching moments that are very difficult. It is vital to learn how to deal with the more difficult aspects of dealing with children, as well as learning how to positively reinforce them.
  • SELF-CONCEPT / ESTEEM
    Lesson deals with the responsibility of parents to help promote good self-concept in their children. The importance of a child's self-esteem and ways to help a child feel good about him/herself are included
