Writing (5.W)
Students will learn to write for a variety of tasks, purposes, and audiences using appropriate grammar/conventions, syntax, and style.
Standard 5.W.1:
Write argumentative pieces on topics and/or texts, supporting a point of view with evidence and information, using linking words, phrases, and clauses to connect the claim to the evidence, and provide a concluding section related to the claim presented.

Informative Writing
This is a lesson plan for 3-6 students who are learning to write an informative paper. This lesson plan is designed for a 5 paragraph short research paper. It is intended to match the Writing Standard 2: Write informative/explanatory texts to exaamine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly. KEVA Building Challenge
Students will work with a partner to deconstruct a specific artifact. Students will write directions in order to replicate the artifact. Partners will try following the instructions and recreating the artifact. Other building manipulatives could be used such as magnet tiles or Legos.

Loaded Words: Vocabulary That Packs a Punch in Persuasive Writing
In this minilesson, students practice identifying and purposefully using vocabulary in persuasive writing that is intended to have an emotional impact on the reader.
