  • My World of Words: Building Vocabulary Lists
    This lesson from ReadWriteThink uses students' areas of interest both in and out of school to generate personalized vocabulary lists. Working in small groups, students select their own vocabulary words and research their meanings. In a culminating activity that uses text and illustration, each student will create a "My World of Words Journal."
  • Short Circuit
    Maggie needs help fixing a short circuit in her computer, and she needs your help. By linking the prefixes and suffixes to their meaning, you can really help her out.
  • Spelling Patterns "Go Fish" Card Game
    In this lesson, students use a chart with fifty-two words grouped by spelling patterns to make a card game designed to help them recognize several common English spelling patterns.
  • What's the Word
    Students are given a picture and asked to select the word that describes the picture.
  • Word Central
    There are a variety of activities found on this site. Activities include: An online dictionary; A build-your-own dictionary where students can enter their own words; a daily buzzword; a science lab that write phrases in codes; a rhyming dictionary, etc.
